heating and cooling leads to transformation from tetragonal to monoclinical
structure, along with significant increase in volume, which may lead to
procedural failure.1  Hence,
alloying zirconia with metallic oxides such as CaO, MgO ,Y2O3
or CeO2 helps in retaining the tetragonal structure at room
temperature and thereby provide increased stability.
